Is language barrier a problem between locals and tourists?

Answer: That depends. If the tourists speak english, then communication with the locals should not be a big problem. This is because most locals are able to at least speak conversational english. However, there are some locals that are unable to communicate in english and only speak the khmer language. My suggestion is that the tourists hire a guide which speaks their language so as to help them translate in case of a communication barrier between the tourists and the locals.
